Noted For: catcher; Brooklyn Robins (1928-31), Brooklyn Dodgers (1932-35), Boston Bees (1936-40), Pittsburgh Pirates (1940-46), and Cleveland Indians (1947). 2-time All-Star (1934, 41). Manager of the Cleveland Indians (1951-56) and Chicago White Sox (1957-1965); managed two American League champion teams (1954, 59). Elected to the MLB Hall of Fame (1977).
